Prof. Dr. Tolen Kaiyrgazy Ashimbekuly

Kazakh National Academy of Arts

Tolen Kaiyrgazy Ashimbekuly was born on the 20th of December,1959 in Korgalzhyn district of Akmola region. In 1981, he graduated the Music Faculty of the Akmola State Pedagogical Institute named after S.Seifullin, in 1992 he graduated the Folk Instruments Faculty of Almaty State Kurmangazy Conservatory. Additional Kaiyrgazy was trained and gained knowledge of composer from Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Mansur Sagatov; gained knowledge of conducting from Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Professor Aitkali Zhairov; gained knowledge of Arrangement for orchestra from People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, State Prize Laureate - Professor Kenzhebek Kumisbekov. Together with his works, Tolen Kaiyrgazy shot orchestras and wrote musical scores of folk songs, as well as works of foreign composers for Orchestra of Kurmangazy Academic Folk Instruments and Tlendiev Academic Folklore Orchestra. Furthermore, he made the arrangement of many works for symphonic, variety symphonic orchestras and ensembles that have been performed in Kazakhstan, as well as abroad and have been awarded with prize-winning places.

Kaiyrgazy Tolen – professor, Head of the Folklore Chair of the Department of Traditional Musical Art of the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov. He is the author of several books and textbooks.
